Tennessee

          After leaving Little Rock, we arrived in Natchez Trace State Park, just outside of Memphis, Tennessee.  Our campsite was located next to a small lake.  There were many miles of trails in the park and Justin explored some of them during our stay.  The kids came down with a nasty cold and we kept them indoors for most of the stay.  We were the only ones present in the campground during our two night stay next to the lake and we really enjoyed the quiet as well as the heated restrooms and hot showers!  While we were there, we fed a stray kitty, which needed food badly, and we endured the pesky group of raccoons that opened and went through our storage bins, as well as our trash, and tried to steal Daisy’s treats in the middle of the night.  The morning we left, we had a lesson on the masked bandits as we drove to Nashville to pick up a package we had sent to the REI there.

          Thanks to a friend, who informed us that our next stop would have to be delayed due to a storm that closed park roads, we had time in Nashville to plan our next move.  We decided on a room in Knoxville, TN while we waited for roads to open at the Smoky Mountain National Park.  The roads opened the next morning, and we set up camp in Cades Cove, a very popular part of the park.  After our first night here, we are excited to explore everything we can!
