Newman’s Trailhead

Today is Christmas 2011 and we had the most amazing Christmas ever!!!  We decided on a whim to head out to Wetmore to run and to try out the new camper.  We bought the camper recently and have been itching to try it out.  We quickly packed supplies and we piled into the Tacoma for a short drive to the trailhead.  When we got about a mile from the snow was too deep to continue so we ended up parking in Florence Mountain Park in front of a gate that no one would be attempting to drive through in the foreseeable future.

My husband and I popped up the camper in about five minutes which was great!   The heater quickly warmed the camper and I was able to leave it off a majority of the time; considering the low 30’s temps, I was happy with this discovery.  I brought the new mattress pad and some sheets along so that I could put those on while I was waiting for the guys to get back.  After setting up the bed, I fired up my stove for the first time and made some Pasole and fresh tortillas.

Meanwhile, the kids sat on the bed and played the new card games they received for Christmas.  After I had dinner cooking, I sat down a finished a book.  Time seemed to fly by, guy came back from their run hungry.  We hung out and talked in the camper for another two hours before we decided to head home.  We struggled at first to close the camper but quickly discovered the camper needed to be more level so we backed out and then quickly closed the two stubborn latches.  Even with our struggle, only five minutes lapsed from the minute we decided to leave until we were headed down the road from which we came.
